Tipping Your Movers - What to know BEFORE moving day!![]() It's moving day. You have had to remember a hundred details including making sure the movers know what to do, what doesn't go on the truck, what box goes into what room and everything else that goes along with moving day. What you haven't thought about is tipping your movers and now it's the end of the day and the move is over and you are thanking these hard-working people who have put so much effort into making sure that the dresser is in the right spot, the doors didn't get scratched, the floors didn't get dirty and the treadmill got moved impossibly into the basement...then it occurs to you..."Should I tip them?!?!?" You're horrified because you don't have any cash because you haven't figured out where the ATM is in this new town and you can't find the checkbook and you wonder if a check would be an appropriate tipping method anyway! So, now is the time to plan ahead! We are going to give you the Top Tips For Tipping! (see what we did there?) First thing to know...our Spring Hill Moving Company movers do NOT expect a tip. Yup, you read that right! Our movers are specially trained to do a fantastic job for you and not to expect a tip. In fact the only reason, I am sharing any of this information with you right now is because it is a question that we get asked quite often. So, while tips aren't expected, we have found that satisfied customers often do tip and our movers will graciously accept tips. So, how much? It depends. It depends on things like the duration of the move, any special treatment that some of your belongings might have required, and how you feel the move went overall. IF you do decide to tip (even though you know it's not expected), on average here's what we have seen over the years: For a move that is fairly small (apartments, storage units, etc) and that don't take very long, $10-$20 per person is fairly common. For a move that is a bit larger or more involved (3 bedroom house, townhome, etc.) that might take 3 or 4 hours, $20-$30 is common. For large moves, $20-$50 is about average. If there are special circumstances that require extra effort, time or specific instructions, that might also be a consideration for a larger tip. Again, we only share this information because we often get asked but our crew members are professionally trained to do their best work for you regardless of a tip. We would love to assist you with YOUR move! Please call us at (615) 696-7945 or fill out our information request form (click here.)
